Here is a list of some possible topics for our discussion of cyber-communities. Some of these are social-networking sites, others are gaming sites or dating sites or sites that have a specific purpose, like sharing photos or videos or book recommendations. Others are discussion groups or mailing lists, and some require extra software to do particular things, like sharing files (Bittorrent) or exploring the globe (Google Earth). You can choose from among these for your essay topic, or you can come up with something else, as long as you run it by me first.
Once you choose your cyber community, you will be asked to become involved with that community and to present your findings during class discussion.
