YouTube Summary

YouTube has grown in popularity in the past few years and it has now become a main source of entertainment for us. As discussed in class, there are some negatives to YouTube videos. Privacy is not a concern for these videos. People aren't asked for permission if someone wants to upload a video of them possibly doing something embarrassing or even something frowned upon by society. Sometimes these videos can be harmful to a person's carreer or reputation and that isn't something easily erased. There are plenty of examples of such cases. Despite this, YouTube is still a very popular site that everyone commonly uses to look up funny videos, watch series, exchange ideas, or just to watch things they might have missed but wanted to see. YouTube has now become a major part of the 2008 election since it is now being used by candidate supporters to make videos of their preferred candidate, these videos sometimes feature famous and influential people and unites them in support of a cause to spread an idea. It is now easier to reach young voters through these methods, and it has also become easier for anyone to voice their opinion through videos, not just about the election but about anything.

There are some privacy concerns with You Tube but they are minimal at most. Unlike sites such as MySpace and Facebook, you do not have to reveal personal information to participate. You can simply upload your own videos or watch the countless videos of others without having your life story sprawled out across the web. The site is also very convenient in that its required software has probably already been pre-installed on your computer.

It is really hard to control everything people post online. In class there was a good idea mentioned but I'm not sure who mentioned it. If people find a video of them that they don't want on YouTube they can email YouTube and report it. Then YouTube should consider whether to take it down or not. This way if the video is really embarrassing, there is a chance that the video will be erased. This will make people feel like they have more privacy.

Other than porn or copyrighted videos, Youtube has no restrictions on what people can put up. This can violate one's personal space. People have the right to their own space, therefore I believe that Youtube should something about that. Although privacy is an issue with this site, Youtube has many positive aspects to it. There are a plenty of videos to one's amusement. It contains videos based on education, funny videos, music videos, TV shows, movies, ect.

YouTube is a great way to be creative and spread your creativity quickly. However, like we mentioned there are issues with the website concerning violation of privacy. I agree with Stephanie and whoever she quoted, that Youtube should make a way to report a video in order to get it erased from the internet before embarrassing anyone. I definitely do not think that YouTube should close or anything because it is great source of entertainment and another opening to possibilities.

There are a lot of positives and negatives to You Tube. I have to say that I have in fact watched You Tube videos. Some of them have been more entertaining then others. But the movies nonetheless provided entertainment in one way or another. Although we did not mention this in class, You Tube has a collection of music videos, which I think are really good. I watched one in specific, where the person in the movie acted out what the song was saying, while the song played in the background. The timing was great, and it helped me to understand what the song was talking about because it was not in English. Also, I think that in general, You Tube has the potential to provide amazing entertainment to everyone (there is really a lot of different videos on there from what I have heard), except for the issue of privacy. If they could somehow work it out that people don’t put up pictures of other people without their consent, it would be great, and You Tube might become even more popular (if that is possible).

In my opinion, YouTube is awesome. It is very simple to use, so it is not discriminating towards people who aren't computer geniuses and I like that about the website. To me, it seems more friendly that way. And also, YouTube doesn't have really any privacy problems. Your user name on YouTube does not have to be your name and anything you post does not have to display your name. Overall, YouTube is a quick way to either get a good laugh or learn something useful that is totally cheap and very easy.

You Tube is a great site. It gives people the ability to contribute to the entertainment world with ease. It allows people to get their names out in order to potentially be discovered for the talent they possess. Mainly it's an incredible source of entertainment and I believe it has made some great contributions to the world of film. There are some issues pertaining to privacy that I do agree need to be tended to. I don't think it's ok to negatively exploit someone online, in a video. They should work on a method to help control this issue. However I don’t blame You Tube for this as much as I blame the cruel world. It isn’t easy to filter out videos that might be breaching someone’s privacy, because there is no real way to know which videos those are. You Tube should try to deal with this issue to the best of their abilities, but it doesn’t change my opinion on how great the site is.

I agree with most of you that You Tube is an amazing site . Its an easy way to get a quick laugh And a great source of entertainment to all. I know someone who posted a video of herself singing a random song just out of boredom and days later was picked up by a recording company . I havent heard that many stories of invading privacy on You Tube, but it should be extra cautious about what is allowed to go on its site and not to let people's videos exploit other's privacy.

Youtube has many positive and negative as we know. The copyright and privacy are the two big issues. I like to use Youtube to watch music video, teleplays and cartoons. Also there are many short videos can entertain people. I like it because it is easier than to download those videos. I agree with Stephanie too, to make a way to report a video in order to get it erased from the internet before embarrassing anyone is imperative under the circumstances. And everyone knows that those video in Youtube can post by anyone who has the account, but we have think about a problem---which has to preside over the property in copyright, those people who post video or the Youtube ownner. People post the music video or teleplay that is breach of copyright. I hope they can get the way to solve those problems.

YouTube is a great site that almost everyone uses. Any privacy issues are deffinately outweighed by the benefits. This site allows many people to express themselves where without it they could not do so.
